Betika launched in April 2016, initially accepting bets exclusively via SMS. The service later expanded to include USSD betting and a fully featured web platform.

How to Download and Install the Betika App
The Android APK file can be downloaded directly from the operator’s official website. The app is also available on Google Play.
Betika became the first Kenyan sportsbook to receive approval for listing on Google Play. Since 2021, Google has allowed real-money betting applications on its marketplace only after operators verify that they hold a valid gambling licence in the relevant jurisdiction. As a result, many local betting operators are still unavailable through Google Play.
Installing the APK from the Official Website
- Open the official Betika website and tap the menu icon in the corner of the screen.
- Select Download App to access the Android download page.
- Confirm the APK download. Android will display a standard warning indicating that the file was not downloaded from Google Play.
- Open the downloaded APK file and tap Install. If prompted, allow installations from unknown sources during the initial setup.
For users with entry-level smartphones or slow internet connections, the operator also provides Betika Lite, a lightweight web version that runs directly in a browser. It works even on 2G networks and does not require any storage space on the device.

Devices without Google Mobile Services (GMS) can still install the application by downloading the APK directly from the operator’s official website instead of using Google Play.

Sports Betting
The app provides access to more than 15 sports, including football, basketball, rugby, tennis, and a variety of less common disciplines.
Customers can place both pre-match and live bets, with markets covering match results, totals, handicaps, and selected player markets.

Match Centre

Registration & Verification
Customers can create an account in three different ways:
- Directly through the mobile app
- Via SMS by sending “BETIKA” to 29090
- By dialing the *USSD code 664#
Within the app, users simply enter their mobile phone number, create a password, verify the account using the SMS confirmation code, and optionally enter a promotional code before accepting the terms and completing registration.
Identity Verification
Identity verification (KYC) is required before the first withdrawal.
Customers must upload images of both sides of their Kenyan National ID, together with a selfie holding the document.
Verification is typically completed within a few hours to 48 hours. Once an account has been successfully verified, future withdrawals are usually processed much more quickly.
Deposits & Withdrawals
Customers can make deposits directly through the app by selecting a preferred payment method, entering the deposit amount, and confirming the transaction using their M-Pesa or Airtel Money PIN.
Funds are credited to the betting account without requiring users to switch to another application.
Withdrawals follow a similar process. Open My Profile, select Withdraw, choose the preferred withdrawal method, enter the amount, and confirm the request using the verification SMS sent by Betika.

Betika does not charge its own withdrawal fee. However, standard transaction fees imposed by M-Pesa and Airtel Money still apply. These charges depend on the transfer amount and are determined by the respective mobile payment providers rather than the operator.
How to Place Bets in the Betika App?
The Betika app supports single bets, accumulators, system bets, and live betting.
For customers who want to combine several selections from the same event, the app includes Bet Builder, a feature that allows multiple outcomes from a single match to be placed within one bet.
Placing a bet is straightforward:
- Select a sport from the navigation menu.
- Choose the desired event and tap the odds. The selection will automatically be added to the betting slip.
- Enter the stake amount and tap Place Bet to confirm the wager.
To create an accumulator, simply add multiple selections. The betting slip automatically recalculates the combined odds.
